About Q-Munity Jogja

The young people involved in Q! Film Festival Traveling to Jogja have, for the last two years, been coached by the good people of Q-Munity Jakarta. This year, they take the initiative to form their own queer and queer-friendly community: Q-Munity Jogja. Not so different from its senior, Q-Munity Jogja is a non-profit organization which focuses on arts and culture, particularly films. Q! Film Festival Jogja can be said to be Q-Munity Jogja’s most significant annual program.

 

The objectives:

  1. Building up public awareness on the issues of sexual diversity and HIV/AIDS through films, arts, and discussions;

    2.  

  2. Building up the potentials of marginalized communities in Yogyakarta by encouraging their active participations;

    3.  

  3. Advocating sexual diversity and tolerance by portraying the daily life of gay men, lesbians, bisexuals, transgenders/transsexuals, as well as people living with HIV/AIDS.
